Remember that each of you need to in some way answer each of the four questions below regarding the group conversations you were having in class. For questions 1-3, each of you must answer DIRECTLY TO THE QUESTION. For the final question, the first person who posts will answer directly to the question. For the remainder of the thread, the rest of the class MUST RESPOND TO ANOTHER STUDENT'S POST.
- Please list examples of alliteration that are used in your given section of the poem. To be clear of which part you are referring to in the poem, please specify the part of the poem you were assigned, the page on which your example(s) are located, and the stanza in which the example(s) are located. For example, a citation would look something like this: part 1, page 2, stanza 3, examples x, y, z. Of these examples, please clarify the significance of their use(s).
- Please cite places in the poem where Tennyson breaks from the traditional tetrameter pattern (Use the same format for citation as you did for question 1). What is the significance for these particular breaks? What is Tennyson's intention(s) in doing so?
- Please cite places in the poem where Tennyson breaks from the traditional rhyme scheme (discuss only the end rhyme...internal rhyme is off the table). Much like the meter, discuss the reasons you feel Tennyson broke from the rhyming pattern. What is the significance? What do you believe is his intention?
- What is the significance of the web? What is a web? Is it intended to be a positive symbol, or a negative one? Does the meaning of the symbol change throughout the course of the poem? How? Why?
